Frost Recovery
The 2 plants that turned black from frost bite are sprouting leaves at ground level. Yippee!

First Frost
I witnessed my first frost in Florida. We had freezing temperatures overnight for the past 2 nights. They made a really big deal about it on TV news. Having formerly lived in the deep winter freeze in Michigan, I couldn't figure out what the big deal was until I saw the aftermath. Local agriculture is affected by frost, because they have frost tender crops, like strawberries and oranges, ripening in the fields. The farmers ran irrigation sprinklers to cover the crops in ice. They lose some fruit, but the plants survive. Some of the farmers had crops wiped out.
My neighbors had tender plants covered with sheets, blankets, and towels. It looked funny, as if they left their laundry all over the yard.
I lost 2 plants that were cuttings from Grandma Apple's garden. They turned black. I didn't know which plants needed to be covered. I was a little sad, because the plants are common in Florida, but can't be found for sale at stores. Oh, well. C'est la vie. I didn't come to Florida to have a big hot weather garden anyway.
